Library week in Tui

In library week, Tui really enjoyed getting involved in some fun activities that were around a Dr Suess theme. We started the morning with a story read to us by a teacher from another class. On Monday, we had Mrs Schroeder, followed by Mrs Roberts on Tuesday, and then on Wednesday, Mr Sheehan came into to read to us. It was great to have other teachers come in and share a story with Tui. Mrs Davidson organised a library olympics after lunch on Monday. We had a quiz that we had to complete that related to Dr Suess stories as well as related activities. Ruth Paul, a New Zealand author, visited Plateau School on Thursday and we spent some time with her listening to one of stories and finding out where her ideas come from. On Friday, we participated in a school wide book character parade. We had made cat in the hat costumes in class during the week, most of us wore these in the parade. We also had a fantastic Mr Fox, Sam from Green Eggs and Ham and Thing one. We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Davidson for organising this fun filled week for us.

Expressions Trip

Last week, Tui went on a trip to Expressions with Pukeko and Tuatara. We had a fantastic time. The children really enjoyed learning how to do stitching, when we went to the camping exhibition, and it was great to see them so enthusiastic and excited at the Brick Flicks exhibition. A big thank you to the parents who came with us on the day and also those who offered to help.

Library Time

Over the last four weeks, Tui class have shown a great interest in reading books. They have been reading books by themselves, sharing a book with a class mate, reading with a buddy from Ruru class, having the teacher read to them, listening to audio books and visiting the school library and the mobile library bus. The children always look forward to their library day, which is on a Thursday.
